The Police Command in Taraba State has revealed that some fraudsters have started online police recruitment in the social media.

The Taraba State Police on Wednesday revealed that some fraudsters have started online police recruitment on social media and have advised people not to become victims of the scam.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the State, DSP Joseph Kwaji, issued this warning in a statement released in Jalingo on Wednesday. The statement said the 10,000 police officers recruitment approved by President Muhammadu Buhari was yet to commence.

“The command wishes to inform the public that the 10,000 police officers recruitment approved by President Buhari is yet to commence.

“Modalities for the recruitment are being worked out by the Police Service Commission and would be announced in due course.

“The public is hereby warned to beware of online fraudsters who may take advantage of the recruitment information to defraud them of their hard earned money", it stated.

The statement also urged citizens and medical personnel to assist accident victims and persons with gunshot injuries and thereafter, inform the police for necessary action.

It noted that the directive had become imperative following neglects by good Samaritans and consequent untimely death of victims for fear of being implicated.
