Former Nigerian Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno), on Monday, unveiled a one-point agenda for the rest of his tenure in the upper chamber, ahead of the expiration of the six months suspension which was slammed on him by his colleagues.

Suspended on March 29, this year, Ndume’s six months suspension elapsed on Friday, but it was gathered that the Borno lawmaker will resume next Tuesday.

Recall that Ndume was suspended following a point of order he raised on the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi).

While speaking in a phone interview with DailyTrust, Ndume said his only agenda now, just like before, remained the plight of thousands of people of his constituency who had been rendered homeless as a result of insurgency.

He said the humanitarian crisis in his constituency had not received the necessary attention, especially in the area of provision of funds to fix the damage wreaked by the insurgency.

“If I resume next Tuesday, my one and only agenda is on the plight of my constituents. The humanitarian situation is worrisome and this is why it will be my one and only agenda,” he said.

Meanwhile, his constituents yesterday stormed Abuja ahead of the resumption.

At the Unity Fountain in Abuja, they mounted banners showing that Ndume would resume next Tuesday.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the constituents, Ibrahim Muazzam said Ndume remained the best performing senator in the country, considering that he sponsored the highest number of bills.
