Ali Modu Sheriff's return to the ruling All Progressives Congress has encountered an obstacle following the stand of an influential group.

A group, the Northern Political Conscience has kicked against the purported plan by a former governor of Borno State, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, to return to the APC.
The group also commended dozens of Muslims in Katsina, who reportedly conducted special prayers against Sheriff’s latest moves.
The group stated this in a statement yesterday by its chairman and secretary, Saeed Ibrahim Fagge and Dr. Safeeya Malumfashi.
Sheriff, recently sacked by the Supreme Court as national chairmanship of the PDP, was reported to have visited Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Aso Rock, last week, to perfect his planned defection.
However, Sheriff had denied discussing politics with the vice president, even as the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, also denied participating in the meeting.
