Joseph Habila, a security guard, and his accomplice, Nelson John, who allegedly hacked a Pakistani to death with a digger in his Victoria Island house, are to cool their heels in Ikoyi Prisons, an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court ruled on Monday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the accused – Mr. Habila, 26, and Mr. John, 24 — were brought before the court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder.

Their plea was not taken by the magistrate, A.S. Okubule, who directed that the accused should be remanded in prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions. DPP.

The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 18 at 8.30 p.m. at Plot 1673, Karimu Kotun St., Victoria Island.

He said Mr. Habila, a security guard, had conspired with Mr. John and another man still at large to hack the deceased to death.

According to him, the trio used a digger to butcher Gulfam Shahzad, a Pakistani to death over an undisclosed amount of money that the deceased brought home.

The offences contravened Sections 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the section stipulates death sentence for offenders.

The case has been adjourned until November 10.
