Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has spoken about the outbreak of the Monkey Pox disease.

The infection has spread in Bayelsa State, where a medical doctor and no fewer than 10 persons have reportedly been quarantined as a result of the virus.

Atiku has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Bayelsa State Government to enlighten citizens and fight the outbreak.

“The discovery of monkeypox in Bayelsa is alarming and should be seen as a national emergency, to halt its spread.

“I’m urging the FG, Bayelsa State government, and response agencies to cooperate to enlighten citizens, and fight the outbreak.

“We all share a responsibility to share correct information on the monkeypox disease. Just like we fought Ebola, we will fight this and win,” he tweeted Friday morning.
