All dressed in black, many women, yesterday, protested the alleged ambush and killing of a community member at Jebbu Miango, Bassa Local Go-vernment Area, Plateau State, by herdsmen.

According to Vanguard, the women, in their numbers during the peaceful protest, expressed displeasure at the incessant attacks and killing of people in the community.

It would be recalled that over 20 people, mostly women and children, were recently killed at Ancha village in the same local government area.

The women, chanting Ba mu sun soldier (We don’t want soldiers), demanded the withdrawal of security personnel in the area, saying there was no point having them when incessant killings had become the norm in the area.

Speaking on the development, Transition Committee Secretary of Bassa Local Government, John Tanko, told Vanguard: “This trend is very disturbing despite series of meetings and the promises to promote peace.”

"Women are dressed in black were registering their grievances and if at all we have security personnel all over Miango and these things are happening, what is the need? For about two weeks now, we have had three killings.”
