Some residents of Ikot Ekpene road in the Umuahia area of Abia State, today, caught and mercilessly beat a young man who was apprehended after stealing from a boutique.

A young man who allegedly stole from a boutique at Ikot Ekpene road in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Tuesday, was apprehended wearing a cloth from the shop and mercilessly beaten by a mob.
Multiple online reports reveal that the suspect was seen by the owner of the boutique wearing one of the clothes allegedly stolen from the store, and when quizzed by his captors, the young man said he didn't steal the cloth and that it was given to him by one of his friends.
He was tied up and beaten by the residents before he was handed over to security operatives - not after the said cloth was stripped off him.
