Liverpool have ratified the signing of Nigerian prospect Taiwo Awoniyi. It was reported earlier this month that the striker was also attracting interest from the likes of Porto and Monaco.

18-year-old Nigeria youth international, Taiwo Awoniyi, on Monday, completed his transfer and signed for English Premier League club,  Liverpool FC. The initial fee will be in the region of £800,000 but that could rise to £3million with add-ons.

However, Awoniyi does not qualify for a work permit so will be immediately sent out on loan to FSV Frankfurt in Germany.

Taiwo who previously represented Imperial Academy in Nigeria, noted in an interview with the official website of the club that he joined Liverpool because it is the biggest club in the world.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “This is the biggest club in the world and I’m privileged to be here. I’ll try to develop myself very well so that when I come back to Liverpool I’ll be able to add value to the team. When I’m in the red shirt, I will always give my very best to make the fans happy.”

The striker is a regular for Nigeria’s youth teams and currently represents their U23 side, who are aiming to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games. He has also played for Nigeria at the U17 and U20 World Cups and earned a call-up for the senior Nigeria squad in 2013.
