Agwaza’s action was sequel to a two-month deadline declared by the present administration which allowed possessors of illegal weapons in the state to surrender them to the government.
Speaking at the handover of 84 assorted calibre weapons, which was performed in the presence of the state Commissioner of Police and other members of the state security council, the alleged militia said the land dispute between Benue and Taraba States led to the formation of his group.
He said, “My neigbours were overran severally by the enemies from Taraba State, It was as a result of the unfortunate incidents that I was made the head of a local militia to check the attacks on our communities.”
Agwaza, who acknowledged the importance of the government’s amnesty programme, pledged his support for the programme just as he sought a peaceful resolution of the lingering border disputes between the two states.
