The group has warned that if the lopsided nature of the president's appointment continues to play out, it will be difficult to retain the trust and expectation that drove what eventually brought to reality the current coalesced Federal Government.

More criticism on President Buhari's alleged lopsided political appointments are trailing in. A Pan-Yoruba association known as Afenifere Renewal Group in a statement, has also reacted to the appointments made by Mr. President.

The statement which was obtained from Punch Newspapers reads: “Our people have hope that the new administration will engender a genuine rapprochement between nationalities in Nigeria; but there are now growing perceptions, at least in the southern parts of the country, that the President might be slipping into the stereotypical Northern hegemony inclination he was labelled as having the during the campaigns."

Adding that “While we call for the continued support of our people for Buhari’s administration, we want to remind Mr. President that Yoruba people have never been a cannon fodder and will resist any such treatment."

“The ARG demands, therefore, a reassuring response from the Presidency, especially in subsequent presidential appointments and decisions, because if this scenario continues to play out, it will be difficult to retain the trust and expectation that drove what eventually brought to reality the current coalesced Federal Government,” the statement said.

According to Punch, the statement was released by the group's Publicity Secretary, Kunle Famoriyo.
