A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police has reportedly lost as much as N20million to a woman in a housing deal.

Omirafe Taiwo, a businesswoman, who allegedly defrauded a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Noah Adeosun of N20 million, was yesterday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates Court, Lagos.
According to The Nation, Taiwo, 39, was accused by the police of obtaining the sum from Adeosun on the pretext of selling a building to him.
The defendant was arraigned before Ms Olanike Olagbende on a four-count charge of conspiracy, issuance of a dud cheque and stealing.
Prosecuting Sergeant Friday Mameh told the court that Taiwo and others at large conspired to commit the alleged offence between last April and September 21, at Lekki Phase 1.
Mameh alleged that she obtained the money from Adeosun, under the guise of selling him the building, “a claim she knew was false.”
The court also heard that last June 29, Taiwo allegedly issued a dud cheque of N20m in favour of the complainant, knowing that she had insufficient funds in her account.
According to Mameh, the offences are punishable under sections 314 (1) (2), 321 (b) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Taiwo pleaded not guilty.
Upon an application for her bail on the most liberal terms, Magistrate Olagbende released Taiwo to her to lawyer, Mr Jude Ozemoya.
The case continues on December 5.
