A gang of burglars have been caught trying to steal a car from the premises of a bank in Delta state.

A notorious robber has been arrested while trying to steal a car from the branch of a commercial bank (name withheld) in Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Delta State.
The suspect reportedly worked with his gang members who are now at large. The incident happened when the owner of a blue Toyota Camry entered the bank for transaction, with his car parked outside the gate, according to a report by Punch.
However, the car owner, who refused to give his name, said the robbery suspects had removed some of his belongings inside the car, including a bag that contained personal items.
He said one of the suspects escaped with the bag.
“My worries now is my bank cheque book which is very important because there’s a transaction I have to make.
“I have over N30,000 and my cheque book in the bag, and that’s my concern now.
“They vandalised my car in their attempt to steal it; but the intervention of the security men foiled the attempt, while they made away with my bag,” he lamented.
The suspect who was arrested gave his name as Nnamdi, and explained: “We are from Oguta in Anambra State. I don’t have the phone number of my colleague who escaped.
“We are hungry; please, forgive us. This is my first time on the job. My friend lured me into the job.”
The suspect was later handed over to the police at the “A” Division where he is being currently detained for further investigation.
