The Benue State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved the sum of N75.8million for the renovation of the Governor’s Lodge in Makurdi, Daily Post reports.

This approval is coming weeks after a complaint by the state government of an alleged N115Million debt left behind by the immediate past administration of Governor Gabriel Suswam.

The commissioner for information in Benue state, Ode Agih, who spoke at a media briefing after the Exco meeting in Makurdi, Ode Agih,  said, the renovation is aimed at giving comfort to the governor, Samuel Ortom.

According to Agih, it had become imperative to renovate the lodge in order to make it habitable for Governor Ortom to occupy and put an end to his continuous stay at his private residence.

Agih said the Exco also gave approval for an 11-man committee to prepare grounds for hosting of prominent sons and daughters of the state, as well as organise a special honour in respect of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu, the second civilian Governor of Benue state.
