Fire Guts Warri Market Again, Destroys Shops

Market women are currently wailing in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria where their merchandise worth millions of naira have been ruined by fire.

Reports making round on social media reveal the popular Ogbe-Ijoh market in Warri South Local Government Area has been razed.
 
The fire, DAILY POST gathered started in the early hours of Wednesday, November 22.
 
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained at the time of this report, but an eyewitness who craved anonymity said the fire started from a small portion of the market before spreading to other stalls.
 
The eyewitness blamed the cause of the fire on electrical surge. It was learnt that soldiers deployed to the scene prevented hoodlums from looting the market until some of the traders dashed in to rescue their wares.
 
The Ogbe-Ijoh market which harbours illegally refined petroleum products ferried in plastic kegs from the creeks is known with yearly fire outbreak.
