Residents of a Katsina state community have been thrown in panic mode after robbers stormed Kankara- Sheme road to kill people.

According to Daily Trust, indiscriminate shooting by suspected armed robbers has left many people dead along Kankara- Sheme road in Katsina state.
The incident according to an eye witness occurred last Saturday around 9:00pm close to Mabai village in Kankara LGA, where motorists from Kano to Sokoto through Katsina were trapped.
Alhaji Umar Aminu Sarkin Shanun Sheme, who lost a daughter to the incident, said the robbers did not attack Sheme grains market as was reported in some sections of the media.
“The incident happened around 9:00pm close to Mabai village where a team of robbers blocked the Sheme- Kankara road and shot sporadically at about 20 passengers; many of the victims were going to Zamfara, Sokoto or Kebbi states. My daughter was shot dead while her mother narrowly escaped unhurt.” Aminu said.
He added that over twenty cars were stopped by the robbers while some managed to flee the scene amidst sporadic shootings.
