According to a report by Daily Trust, a man has been found stone dead inside an hotel room where he had lodged in Second Avenue Gwarimpa.
A police source at the Gwarinpa Police Station said the deceased, identified as Nasiru Abubakar, 49, might have died after throwing up the meat pie he ate before he went to bed.
The source said Abubakar, an indigene of Gombe State, had called his brother at about 5:00a.m. from his hotel room telling him to come and take him to hospital.
City News reports that his brother arrived at about 7:00a.m. and was unable to enter the room as it was locked from inside and there was no response after he knocked on the door several times.
He reported to the hotel management which in turn reported the matter to the police station in the area.
The Gwarimpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident.
He said police officers forced the door open and the man was found lying on the bed with leftovers of meat pie and a substance found on the bed.
“He was rushed to National Hospital, Abuja where he was confirmed dead. An autopsy indicated that he was hypertensive and that could be the cause of death,” he said.
“We received the leftover of the meat pie and drug-like substance for analysis,” he said adding that investigation was ongoing.
