Here are some titbits about Prince Harry’s actor bride, Meghan Markle, who he will marry next spring, according to an announcement today by the British royals.
Meghan lived her childhood in California but now lives in Toronto Canada. She graduated from Northwestern University in Theatre and International relations.
She is 36 years old, four years older than Prince Harry. She is a beautiful woman.
Her mother Doria Ragland is African-American and the father Thomas Markle is Dutch-Irish. The couple divorced when Meghan was six years old.
Her father once won a lottery. He used part of the proceeds to fund her acting career. The father now lives in Mexico.
She is a fiercely independent woman, who likes campaigning for feminine rights.
At Age 11, she forced a soap manufacturer to alter an advert after she wrote a letter to then First Lady Hillary Clinton and other high-profile figures complaining that it implied women belonged in the kitchen.
In a speech she made on the 2015 International Women’s Day, she urged women to make their voices heard, saying: “Women need a seat at the table, they need an invitation to be seated there, and in some cases, where this is not available, they need to create their own table”.
She plays the role of a lawyer in the hit television show “Suits”. She first hit the screens in America when she featured in an episode of the medical drama, General Hospital in 2002. She later moved on to roles in CSI, Without a Trcae and Fringe.
The tabloids in Britain have been disparaging her, even falsely alleging that she once bared it all for a porn site.

She and Harry made their first official public appearance together in September, attending the opening ceremony of the third Invictus Games — created by Harry for disabled or wounded soldiers and veterans. Harry invited Meghan’s mum to the event.
“We’re two people who are really happy and in love,” Meghan Markle told Vanity Fair shortly before the event.
Like Harry, she does humanitarian work. In this regard, she serves as an ambassador for the Canadian charity “World Vision Canada,” which works to improve children’s lives in developing countries
She is also telegenic, practises yoga and drinks detox drinks including “green juices,” according to her Instagram account.
Reports said she was once married to an American producer, Trevor Engelson between 2011 and 2013, after six years of dating.
But this and her mixed raced background are nothing to love-besotted Harry.
“It would show Harry, a senior member of the Royal Family, to be a thoroughly modern man — not a precious, strange creature from another planet, which is how the royals are sometimes seen”, said one of Harry’s handlers.
