A factory worker has perished in a really horrific manner after getting trapped inside a hot ink tank while cleaning it out.
The scene of the tragic incident
According to a report by The Sun UK, a man has died after being trapped for hours in a hot ink tank at a factory in Sydney.
Emergency services desperately tried to free the man when he went inside the tank to clean it and his legs became trapped by a blade.
The blade is thought to have suddenly moved while he and two others were inside.
New South Wales Ambulance Superintendent Paul Turner said that because of the circumstances a rescue attempt was incredibly difficult.
The victim is believed to be aged in his 20s or 30s, and his body is still trapped in the six-metre battery shaped tank.
Two workers were able to be rescued – one soon after the alarm was raised, and the other after two hours, News.com.au reports.
Both men were taken to Westmead Hospital with multiple leg fractures and are in a stable condition.
Mr Turner said: “The third patient unfortunately died on scene, this is a terrible tragedy.
“We had ten ambulance resources on scene, along with NSW Police and Fire & Rescue. We did absolutely everything we could.”
Some of the rescuers were experts in working in confined spaces, he said.
The conditions in the tank were “hot”, he said.
“It’s a tragic set of circumstances so close to Christmas”.
The man was conscious and able to talk when paramedics arrived but his condition deteriorated
