The crisis in Kano's political terrain has deepened with the resignation of the embattled APC state chairman, Abdullai Abbas.
The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Kano state chairman, Abdullai Abbas, who was indicted in the feud between Governor Abdullai Ganduje and his deputy, Hafizu Abubakar, has resigned his position.
According to Premium Times, an aide to the Commissioner of Information, Faizu Alfindiki, confirmed on Wednesday, that Abbas had resigned, though no immediate reason was given for the decision, as another twist has been added to the raging controversy in the party in the state.
It was learnt that the deputy governor had recently, in a radio programme, indicated that he would not run on the same ticket with the governor in 2019, citing the fact that he had been sidelined in governance and party affairs in the state. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the removal of his ward chairman.
A rattled Governor Ganfuje immediately ordered that the official be reinstated and urged politicians in the state to respect his deputy in all their actions.
It was gathered that the ex-chairman is scheduled to appear before the state assembly although the invitation has not been formalised.
