A former lawmaker, has reminded Nigerians in an interview that it took President Buhari three months to appoint commissioners as governor of the defunct North-East state.

In reaction to the controversies generated by the President’s delay in appointing ministers more than 100 days after his inauguration, a former lawmaker, Hon. Hassan el-Badawy, has reminded Nigerians that it took the current President, Muhammadu Buhari, three months to appoint commissioners when he was the governor of the defunct North-East state.

El-Badawy, who represented Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency of Yobe State in the 7th House of Representative, made this known to Daily Trust and also noted that Buhari as governor eventually got the best after exhausting three months to appoint commissioners.

"When Buhari was a governor (of the defunct North-East State) in the 70s, it took him three months to appoint commissioners and it worked out well because he got the best. And since then, he has been in and out of government. Therefore, he knows the people well. Nigeria is big and so many people have disappointed when entrusted with position of power".

Noting that it is only the foolish ones that rush into where angels dare to thread, the ex-Reps member stated;

"Nigeria is not where you just jump up and do some things. He (Buhari) has a long way to go, it is better he goes in a planned way. He may have come with a blueprint but what he met on the ground might be different.

"For example, the PIB bill, he was not there when the bill was made, he has to know if it was done to favour some persons before approving it. If you impose it on Buhari to implement, it will be unfair. Let us give him time because he knows he cannot do it alone. I think he wants to be sure of who he is appointing".
