Nigerian senators have raised an alarm that some foreign militias have hijacked internal security of the country and have demanded that President Muhammdu Buhari sack heads of security agencies.

Members of the Nigeria Senate have on Wednesday during a plenary session debated claims that foreign militias have taken over the security architecture in many parts of the country, especially in states in the North that share borders with other nations.

According to Daily Sun, the federal lawmakers, who took their turns to speak on the state of the security situation, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to remove heads of security agencies or rejig the security council.

The federal lawmakers warned that if something urgent was not done, terrorists would soon overrun the country.

The senators also hinted that in some states, militias now administer justice in villages and towns, while traditional rulers have been silenced.
