According to reports, ex Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi who was recently appointed to manage FC Ifeanyi Ubah in Anambra, may well have quit the football club after he defied an order by the club owner that the team return to base the night they lost at Sharks FC.

An insider disclosed to AfricanFootball.com that Amokachi and his assistant, Ike Shorunmu were displeased with the treatment meted to them and the team by the owner, Ifeanyi Ubah after their 1-0 loss to Sharks in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

"Coaches Amokachi and Shorunmu have left the team. We knew it will happen the moment we got to Nnewi because they were not happy about what happened in Port Harcourt. They both picked their belongings the moment we arrived Nnewi and moved to Owerri," a source at the club said.

The club owner, Ifeanyi Ubah reportedly ordered the team to return immediately after the game as against the plan to leave Monday morning, but the team refused and the team bus left Sunday night without the players, technical crew and the management, a player of the club told AfricanFootball.com

"We just don’t understand what this means, it is football, we can’t win all the time. Thank God we didn’t embark on the journey Sunday night, who knows what the story would have been now because our supporters told us that the robbers who attacked them while they were returning asked after the players.

"We were told that the owner sent a message that everybody should enter the bus and return that night, including the management and coaches. We the players said we are not going, same for the coaches and the management because we were to leave Monday morning.

"We are not slaves for God sake and we have families for God sake. We just wandered around the hotel because we couldn’t stay in the hotel room again unless we will pay for today (Monday). This is absurd and ridiculous,"
a furious player told AfricanFootball.com

Another player told AfricanFootball.com: "Imagine that we were threatened with sack because we value our lives. We all know Nigeria roads are not even safe in the day time, talk less of in the night. We are professional footballers and deserved to be treated as such."
