Some of the officials of the Nigerian pilgrimage have been arrested and jailed in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The coordinator of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) in Mecca, Suleiman Usman, has stated that some officials of the Nigerian pilgrimage have been arrested and imprisoned for trespass in Saudi Arabia.
Suleiman disclosed this while paying a condolence visit on Sunday night to three Nigerian states that lost six pilgrims in the Mecca crane accident.
He said the affected officials were medical personnel arrested for embarking on a trip outside Mecca without official permit. He however said they were working on how to secure their release.
He also said other pilgrims have been warned not to travel out of Mecca for now and if they must do, they must obtain an official permit.
