The President of the United States of America, Mr Donald Trump addressed the nation in his first State of the Union address earlier this week – but wife Melania did not appear too pleased with his performance.
Daily Star UK reports that during a speech on Tuesday, the 71-year-old gave a passionate declaration of his support for “faith and family” to rapturous applause from the audience.
Many of those watching on even stood and applauded the Republican Commander-In-Chief – but the camera quickly turned to a sullen-faced Melania.
Wearing all-white – the colour recently associated with the #MeToo movement, calling out perpetrators of sexual harassment and assault – the 47-year-old remained seated and appeared to applaud lazily.
She bucked custom by refusing to travel to Capitol Hill with the President and left immediately afterwards without making comment.
It was the first time the former glamour model has been seen in public since revelations that her husband allegedly paid off porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their affair.
The adult star claimed she had an affair with the future 45th President of the United States in 2006, shortly after Melania gave birth to son Baron.
Trump’s team have consistently denied the claims, labelling the allegations “fake news”.
Eagle-eyed viewers picked up on Melania’s apparent act of defiance, flocking to Twitter to cast their thoughts on the apparent snub.
“She looks like she doesn't even want to be there,” read one comment.
Another said: “She is making all kinds of statements tonight without saying a word.”
