Commotion In Benue As 200 Militia Members Kill Police Officer During A Bloody Clash

A serious battle in Yogbo community of Benue state has left many people dead after militia group and police clashed.

A police officer was killed and another missing after policemen deployed to Yogbo community in Guma local government area of the state were attacked by heavily armed militia group numbering about two hundred (200).
 
The command public relations officer, ASP Moses Yamu who made this known in a statement explained that the police team braced up to the challenge and engaged them in gun battle, killing three of the militants.
 
According to him, their corpses were taken away by their fleeing members with some of whom also suffered severe gunshot wounds.

“The command  received a report on  4 February 2018 that the militias attacked the community and immediately swung into action”.
 
ASP Yamu, however, added that the police lost a non-commissioned officer, with another missing. He said efforts were being intensified for overt and covert operations in the area and the state at large with a view to preventing recurrence.

"The command will continue to count on the support of well-meaning residents of the State to curb the situation,’’ Yamu stated.
