A trigger-happy police officer escorting a company trailer has executed a taxi driver in broad daylight in Rivers state.

A police escort attached to a company trailer has fled the scene after he brutally shot dead a taxi driver at Rumuokoro roundabout, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The sad incident took place on the 18th of February, 2018.
Some youths from Igbo extraction who identified the victim as their brother blocked the popular East-West road where the incident occured in protest.
However, the development took another twist as policemen from the state command arrived to pick the remains of the dead taxi driver with heavy gunfire causing panic in the area, according to a report by Vanguard.
An eyewitness, Grace Chinemerem Onyeyiri who witnessed the incident wrote: "What would have been our fate?
This happened live in Rumuokoro PortHarcourt. A taxi driver loading passengers was shot dead by a police man in Rumuokoro for no reason. On the other hand, I thank God for saving I and my Brother from their stray bullet."
