Fake Policeman Arrested While Collecting N15,000 Bribe In Abuja

A 34-year-old man who impersonated as a police officer has been nabbed after collecting N15,000 bribe.

The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 34-year-old man, Prince Williams, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court,  Abuja, for allegedly impersonating as a  police officer.
 
The defendant of 222 Road, House 555, 2nd Avenue,  Gwarinpa, Abuja, is facing a two- count of impersonation and extortion.
 
The prosecutor, Mr. Kufreabasi Ebong, told the court that the accused committed the offenses on February 11 at 10 a.m.
 
Ebong said that the accused disguised as a police officer and collected a valid driver’s license and N15,000 from an unsuspecting victim.
 
The offences contravened Sections 132 and 292 of the Penal Code.
 
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges
 
The Magistrate, Mr. Taribo Jim, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 21 for hearing.
