Veteran Nollywood actor, Peter Bunor, is dead

One of Nollywood's veteran actors, Peter Bunor, who acted in popular soaps such as Checkmate and Memorial Hospital among others, is dead. He died after a prolonged battle with stroke. His son, Peter Jr., who is also a popular actor, confirmed the sad news yesterday.

The Nigerian movie industry popularly called Nollywood was yesterday, May 1st, thrown into mourning as the lights dimmed on one of its veterans, Peter Bunor.

According to reports, Mr. Bunor passed on in Asaba, Delta State, after a prolonged battle with stroke.

His son, actor Peter Bunor Jr, confirmed his passing via a Facebook post.

"In the early hours of today [Friday], my father, friend, teacher, confidant passed on", he wrote

It would be recalled that the Ogwashi Uku born actor of Delta State had lamented in an interview in 2013 that since he came down with stroke, none of his colleagues, not even the ones he mentored in the industry, showed any concern even though they were aware of his plight.

A roll call of some of the popular soaps the late actor featured in include Memorial Hospital, Checkmate, Sound of Destiny, Second Chance, Third Eye and several home videos, among them, Living In Bondage
