When 31-year old Julia Kozerski, from Brookfield, Wisconsin, was 25, she weighed 338lbs and had a body mass index of 49.9, meaning half of her body was fat.
Finally deciding to take charge of her life in 2009, she lost an amazing 160lbs, a feat which should have left her feeling nothing but elation.
But, behind all the praised before and after photos, and the positive changes to everyday life, Julia admits there was actually plenty of emotional turmoil. That's when Julia started her Half photo project.
The series of self-portraits are raw and unedited, featuring Julia without a strip of clothing, showing the world her excess skin, stretchmarks and changed silhouette in glaring clarity.
