First Son of Dubai Ruler Dies of Heart Attack at 34

The son of Dubai's ruler has died of a heart attack at the age of 33, the United Arab Emirates state news agency WAM said.

Sheikh Rashid, a 34-year-old eldest son of the Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning, the agency said.

He wasn't the heir apparent to the throne though, his younger, Sheikh Hamdan, is.

Dubai announced three days of mourning after the sheikh's death. During the three days of mourning, UAE flags will be flown at half mast, Al Arabiya reported. Sheikh Rashid, was a keen horse lover and was the owner of Zabeel Stables.

Al Maktoum's funeral will be held Saturday, the start of a three-day mourning period in Dubai.
