A boy has paid the price after he was left scarred for life by a girl who threw acid on him for rejecting her love advances.

A teenage girl threw acid at a boy’s face, leaving him scarred for life, because he rejected her offer of love. Pictures show Mahmudul Hasan Maruf, 17, from Dhaka, Bangladesh, lying in a hospital bed after the attack, Metro UK has reported.
It was gathered that the incident left the boy with horrific facial injuries. His skin has been left red raw and peeling. The report stated that the the acid was thrown in his face by a 16-year-old girl. The girl and her mother have now both been arrested by police in Bangladesh.
Mahmadul’s mother joined him in hopsital, where he revealed the horrendous damage caused by the acid attack. He suffered most of the burns to his face, but also had injuries to his shoulder. Local media reports the boy was on his way home from a night out with friends when he was confronted by the girl. he had allegedly been chasing the teenager for months despite him repeatedly turning her down.
After confronting him, she threw the corrosive liquid straight at his face.
She was reportedly arrested a day later. Doctors say it is likely the boy will be scarred for life after entire layers of skin fell off his face. Bangladesh has witnessed a high number of acid attacks since the 1990s, with more than 500 attacks recorded annually in the early 2000’s.
The Acid Survivors Foundation, a charity established in 1999 to help victims in Bangladesh, has helped to reduce the number of attacks there. Survivors have been left severely disfigured and often blind as a result.
