W.TEC to empower girls in Lagos with internet and social media training

The world is moving really fast with the daily advancement in technology and media. The Women's Technology Empowerment Center to that effect has decided to train girls on how to operate the internet and social media sites.

 
The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre, Lagos, is set to train girls in public schools on how to conviniently use the internet and social media.
 
This was contained in a statement by the Executive Director of the Centre, Mrs Oreoluwa Lesi, on Sunday in Lagos, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
 
“The W-TEC Academy is an after-School Computer Club initiative, targeted at girls in public secondary schools, aimed at introducing them to the basics of Information and Communications Technology.

“It is to give them a leverage to compete favourably in the ICT field, with their male counterparts,” it said.
 
According to the statement, the training will enable the girls to be up to date with the latest in the ICT world.
 
It stated that the W.TEC Academy would be expanded this month in view of the successes recorded.
