A frustrated mobile police officer who boarded a Muyi Transport Company bus from Lagos en route Port Harcourt shocked other passengers as he jumped into a river and got drowned, PM Express has reported.

The sad incident happened Thursday afternoon at about 1pm at Ore River in Ondo State where the driver parked for the passengers to eat before they can continue the journey.

An eye witness who was also a passenger in the bus said that he boarded the bus with the police officer in Lagos and they were going to Port Harcourt when the driver parked at a canteen close to the river along the expressway. Other passengers went inside the canteen to eat and probably use the restrooms. The officer whose full identity was yet known reportedly went straight to the bridge across the river. He was said to have removed his police shoes, dived inside the river and got drowned.

When the other people around saw what happened, they raised alarm. He had already drowned and there was no rescue team around to save him. The people then recovered his pair of shoes, the matter was reported to the police and the driver continued with the journey.

The driver reportedly recovered the bag of the police officer which he left inside the bus containing his other uniforms and personal effects. It was not yet confirmed if the management had contacted the deceased family.

What may have caused the officer to jump into the river was not known but the passengers said that he was very quiet inside the bus before they got to Ore where he jumped inside the river.

Some of the passengers said he must have been facing serious challenges and due to the frustration he decided to jump into the river and died in the process.

Meanwhile, it was not yet certain whether his corpse has been recovered because the driver continued the journey to Port Harcourt.
