The Church of Satan has reacted to a comment by Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari, following the killings of church worshipers including two catholic priests in Benue state.

President Muhammadu Buhari has been publicly blasted by the verified Twitter handle of America's Church of Satan (@ChurchofSatan) over a statement he made concerning the killing of two Catholic priests and other church members during worship in Benue.

Recall that while speaking in a reaction to the attack by suspected herdsmen at a Catholic church during a mass in Benue where 19 were slaughtered, President Buhari labelled it as "an evil and satanic act as he vowed to hunt down the assailants and ensure that they pay for the sacrilege committed."

“This latest assault on innocent persons is particularly despicable. Violating a place of worship, killing priests and worshippers is not only vile, evil and satanic, it is clearly calculated to stoke up religious conflict and plunge our communities into endless bloodletting,” the President said.

Buhari's statement didn’t go well the Church of Satan founded by Anton Szandor Lavey, who took to its Twitter page and responded to the statement by stating that the president is ignorant to have blamed the attack on Satan.

”President Buhari is ignorant. Infighting between two different Abrahamic religions is just that, theists killing theists. It has nothing to do with us or Satanism – a life cherishing atheistic religion. Shame on the media for furthering this superstitious nonsense”, a Tweet stated.
