A man identified as Abayomi Akanji has been arrested for the theft of army uniform.
Akanji was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in the Adatan area of Abeokuta after he allegedly impersonated a soldier following the theft.
Local reports show that Akanji stole the uniform from an army barracks and then used it to terrorize residents of the community. He reportedly used it during the period of the fuel scarcity to harass people and create panic.
Luck, however, ran out on him on April 17, 2018, when operatives from the Adatan Police Division, who were on a routine patrol, accosted him and while he was being questioned, he owned up to being a fake soldier and broke down in tears.
