Senate President Bukola Saraki has reacted to the support shown to him by senators who passed a vote of confidence on him as the senate's plenary session resumed yesterday.
As the Senate resumed session on Tuesday, September 29, senators showed their unwavering support to Bukola Saraki, the Senate president, by passing a vote of confidence on him.
Although there were some moves by the ruling All Progressives Congress to impeach Saraki, the lawmakers stood behind the embattled Senate leader as 83 members of the Senate co-sponsored a motion to pass a “vote of confidence”.
Shortly after the plenary session, Saraki took to social media to thank his colleagues and supporters for their confidence in his leadership qualities. Commenting on his trial at CCT, the Senate president stressed that he would submit himself to the judicial process.
Part of his tweets reads: "I thank all my fellow Senators for their abiding support and confidence in my leadership. The work continues..."
"I know many Nigerians have watched my trial at the CCT with interest. Let me reiterate: I shall submit myself to the judicial process."
