There are strong indications that the People's Democratic Party is scheming to frustrate the ministerial ambition of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Indicatons have emerged that the Rivers state government is plotting to stop the screening and confirmation of the former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi, as a minister.

There are speculations that Amaechi’s name is on the ministerial list which President Muhammadu Buhari submitted on Wednesday, September 30.

According to a Daily Sun report, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and his loyalists in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are making moves to stop Amaechi’s clearance by the Senate.

A source in the PDP caucus alleged that some party stalwarts met with PDP Senators to “pay back Amaechi in his own coin” for “fighting his own brother and siding with an outsider” and also, “defecting from the party to the APC.”

“We are already mobilising our members in Rivers and Ekiti states to reject the nominees appointed by the President,” the source said.

However, Governor Wike dismissed the report describing it as “mere fabrication and speculation”.

Simeon Nwakudu, the governor’s media aide said it was a pity that some people could just sit down somewhere and fabricate stories.

Meanwhile, the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to resist any move against Amaechi’s clearance by the Senate.
