Gbenga Babatunde, a middle-aged man, has reportedly collapsed and died during an argument at a drinking joint in Ondo town, Ondo State, Punch Metro reports.
Though, the cause of the death of the 36-year-old vulcanizer was not known as of the time of filing this report, an eyewitness said the deceased might have slumped as a result of a heart attack.
It was gathered that the deceased was at the drinking joint with some of his friends when an argument ensued between him and the owner of the place.
According to the eyewitness, “When he fell down, people around rushed to revive him but their efforts were unsuccessful as he died on the spot.”
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said the deceased slumped while he was drinking at the drinking joint.
He said, “It was a very unfortunate incident. The man slumped and died when he was drinking at the joint but his family had come to us that they were not interested in taking any legal action on the matter and we have released the corpse to them.”
