The Senate has laid down expectation for President Muhammadu Buhari if he intends to go through with appointing himself as Minister of Petroleum.

A week ago, the President, Muhammadu Buhari appointed himself as the Minister of Petroleum.

The Senate plenary session today which would see to the unveiling of the ministerial list might be engulfed in controversy as senators have insisted that Buhari must, in tandem with the constitution, submit himself for screening if he appointed himself Minister of Petroleum.

It was gathered that law makers are also set to reject an incomplete list, saying the constitution provides for a nominee from each state of the federation and that any list that did not cover the 36 states would suffer serious opposition on the floor of the Senate.

Vanguard learnt that the senators are of the opinion that the tradition of take-a-bow for senators coming for screening as ministers would be jettisoned.

They added that they were prepared to send names of nominees to the sender of such a list if it does not fulfil all constitutional principles.
