There was wild jubilation in Dapchi town on Sunday as freed Dapchi schoolgirls reunited with their parents in Dapchi town, Yobe State.

reported earlier on Sunday that the 104 Dapchi schoolgirls arrived the Yobe State capital, Damaturu, on their way home to reunite with their families. They had left Abuja on Sunday morning via a military airplane following their meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
According to a new report by AFP, the released schoolgirls kidnapped were later reunited with their families on Sunday after spending nearly five weeks in captivity. They arrived the Dapchi town around 3pm under heavy security by the Nigerian Air Force.
Covered head to toe in burkas, the 105 girls, arrived aboard five buses in the town of Dapchi, where they were greeted by their parents at the boarding school where they were snatched on February 19.
One of the freed girls also said the Federal Government gave them N10,000 each on their departure from Abuja on Sunday.
The girls were later handed over to their parents at the Assembly Hall of the school in Dapchi, the headquarters of Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, confirmed the return of the girls to Dapchi.
Adesanya said, “The air force airlifted the Dapchi girls back to Maiduguri on Sunday from where they will be transported to Dapchi under an armed air escort, to reunite with their families.
"The return of the girls to their community took place after President Muhammadu Buhari and other top government officials received them at the Government House in Abuja on March 23. All the girls, including a boy and three teachers from the school, were seen boarding the aircraft.”
