Following the Independent National Electoral Commission's decision to drop Eyitayo Jegede and declare Jimoh Ibrahim the recognized candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, the people of Akure have come out en mass to protest.
The decision by INEC yesterday has sparked outrage as supporters of Jegede took to the street burning tyres and chanting war songs.
Ibrahim who belongs to the Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, replaced Eyitayo Jegede who was the candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party.
In the final list released Thursday night, INEC also announced Chief Olusola Oke as the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD.
