Following the clash between the Nigerian Army and members of the Shiites Muslim sect a few weeks ago, the Senate has decided to visit the city to see things for itself, Vanguard reports.

The committee set up by the Senate last week to unravel the remote and immediate causes of recent crisis between the Army and Shiite Islamic group, is expected to visit Zaria, scene of the incident, on Monday.

The ad-hoc committee is expected to meet with the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Eufai and the Emir of Zaria.

Already, the Senate joint Committee on Army, Defence and National Security, which was mandated to carry out investigation on the development, met behind closed doors, in Abuja,  yesterday, where the date was fixed.

All members of the committee, including Senator Ahmad Lawan, who chairs the ad-hoc committee declined to speak to journalists after the meeting.

But a member of the committee confirmed off- record, that the meeting was held and resolved to carry out a fact-finding mission to the scene of the attack in Kaduna next Monday.

The senator explained that members of the committee will also visit the state governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; Emir of Zaria and prominent members of the sect.

Meanwhile, a member of the Senate panel,  Senator Abu Ibrahim, had confirmed, Monday, that  the committee would meet with some Shitte members to find out their roles in the bloody clash.
