A local gin maker in Lagos State has been arraigned before a court for allegedly swindling a customer of N1.3million.

A 39-year-old local gin producer, Akabueze Azubike, who reportedly defrauded his client of N1.3 million, was today, Wednesday, January 20, arraigned in an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Azubike, who pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing, was granted bail in the sum of N25,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Prosecutor, Insp Oluwafemi Adeleye, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 20, 2015 at 13, Tope Akinsanya St., Igando, Egan, Lagos.
Adeleye said that the accused obtained the sum of N1.3 million from his customer, Mr Arinze Ezimmno, under the pretence of supplying him 1,000 cartons of local gin.
He added that the accused absconded with the money without supplying the drinks to the complainant.
Adeleye said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till Feb. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
