See What Ben Bruce is Saying About the Gender Equality Bill

 

The #CommonSenseSenator Ben Murray-Bruce representing Bayelsa East constituency, has given his support for the Gender Equality Bill.

 

He made his view public using his twitter handle. 

 

Bruce wrote: "I support the Gender Equality #GEOBill. I was abroad with my Senate Cttee when it came up, but I've gotten assurances it will be represented"

 

 

It would be recalled that the Senate on Tuesday rejected the bill seeking to empower women politically and economically, as well as grant them equal opportunities with men in diverse human endeavours.

 

This followed condemnation from senators mainly from the Northern part of the country who opined that the bill went contrary to their religious and cultural beliefs as well as the Nigerian constitution in some issues.
