Nigerian Doctor Reunites With Former Teacher at UK Hospital

A 30-year-old UK-based Nigerian doctor known as Dr Zee, identified as Azeezat Sanusi, has shared a heartwarming reunion with her former secondary school biology teacher, who now works as a nurse at the same UK hospital where she practises as a doctor.

The reunion, captured in a video that trended on social media on Monday from her TikTok account, showed the pair reflecting on their journey from a classroom in Nigeria to working together in the United Kingdom.

Introducing him in the clip, Dr Zee said she was with her secondary school biology teacher, who now works as a nurse at the same hospital where she is a doctor, describing the coincidence as remarkable. She said it felt surreal that they now found themselves working together, with him as a registered nurse and her as a doctor.

Responding, the former teacher, identified as Nurse Sunday, said he was proud of his former student, describing the outcome as something every teacher hopes for.

During the exchange, Dr Zee admitted she was not among the brightest students in secondary school, describing herself as quite naughty and playful rather than particularly studious. She joked that if her former teacher had been asked back then to guess which of his students would become a doctor, he likely would not have picked her. Nurse Sunday laughingly agreed, saying he would not have chosen her either.

Dr Zee added that she had not even liked biology while in school, making the reunion feel all the more remarkable to her.

According to her social media profile, Dr Zee holds registration with both the General Medical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the United Kingdom.
