The vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples' Movement, APM, Lawal Daura, has said the 2027 elections must not be won through manipulation.

Daura spoke on Tuesday at the launch of the national campaign management committee of the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation.

The former Director-General of the Department of State Services said any attempt to rig the elections will be resisted, and that those planning to do so have a surprise coming.

He said the number of registered voters in Nigeria has passed 100 million, which he described as very important for politicians.

He admitted that winning over so many voters is a huge task, but said the party is aiming for at least two-thirds of the 103 million voters.

According to him, parties should win votes by convincing Nigerians with their programmes and the quality of their candidates, and not by looking for shortcuts.

He said this time the struggle is real, and that everything must be done according to the law and the Electoral Act.

He added that the APM wants to reset Nigeria, and that the job needs people with quality, focus and determination.

The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Felix Hayat, said the team is made up of people ready to face the problems of the country.

He urged young Nigerians not to base their political choices only on religion, ethnicity or region.

He told them they have a future and must be the ones to protect it, because nobody else will do it for them.

The National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, advised campaign members to work with the party's structures to win, saying the goal is to deliver Makinde and Daura and then form the government in 2027.

He said disagreements may come up within the campaign, but how well they are handled will decide the strength of the organisation.

He asked the newly inaugurated members to see their appointment as the start of the work and not an achievement.
