Dr Sokonte Davies, a former political ally of ex-Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, has left the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and gone back to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He said he sees better prospects in the APC.

Davies is a former governorship aspirant and a founding member of the ADC.

He announced his decision on Wednesday in a statement sent to Vanguard.

He said he talked it over with his family, political associates, constituents and elders before deciding.

He said he looked at where he could best serve his people and help the political and economic growth of Rivers State.

He also said he wants to help re-elect President Bola Tinubu and keep Rivers State politically stable.

Davies described the move as a homecoming, since he was also a founding member of the APC.

He said he still believes in the party's founding ideals, including democracy, social justice, true federalism, inclusive growth and respect for the rule of law.

He thanked the ADC leadership and members for the chance to serve and said he has no ill will.

He wished the party well, saying people can disagree without being disagreeable.

Davies promised to work with APC members at the ward, local government, state and national levels.

He asked his supporters to stay calm and law abiding, and invited like-minded people to join the APC.

He also thanked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his warm welcome and APC National Vice Chairman Victor Giadom for helping to bring him back to the party.
