INEC has set October 9 as the start date for checking the voter list in Benue State.

The exercise also covers claims, objections and the handing out of Permanent Voter Cards or PVCs.

It runs until October 15 2026 and will take place in all 276 registration areas across the state.

Offices will be open every day, including weekends, from 9 am to 3 pm.

The news came in a statement from Haliru Haruna, head of voter education and publicity, speaking for the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue.

INEC says the move follows Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2026.

The law says the voter register must be open for public checking at least 90 days before a general election.

Voters are being asked to visit their centres and confirm that their details are correct.

Look closely at your name, photo, date of birth and polling unit.

If something is wrong, raise it during this window so it can be fixed before election day.

INEC also says people who registered in the first phase of continuous voter registration, which ran from August 18 to December 10 2025, can collect their PVCs at their registration areas.

The cards will later be available at local government offices.

The message is simple. Check your details, fix any errors and pick up your card. No PVC means no vote.
