Senator Emma Nwachukwu of Anambra South says a worrying trend is taking shape.

Young Igbo people are not joining the armed forces, and he fears that in a few years there will be no Igbo officers in the Army, Navy or Air Force.

He spoke to his constituents at his home in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area.

He said several groups have started programmes to talk to young people and urge them to apply for military and police jobs.

This is the only way the South-East can fill its quota and grow in the forces.

He said many young people he spoke to are scared of being posted to areas where Boko Haram is active.

He warned that if this continues, people will soon be complaining of being left out.

He asked the media to help spread the message and encourage young people to apply when recruitment opens.

On politics, the senator said APGA in Anambra is confident about the 2027 elections.

The party is fielding candidates for three senate seats, 11 House of Representatives seats and 30 seats in the State House of Assembly.

He said the party is planning hard and wants to win every seat.

He credited Governor Chukwuma Soludo for building support for the party across the state.

He also said he has built good ties between the state's federal lawmakers and the state government.

He added that more needs to be done to create stable jobs for young people in the civil service.

He asked voters in Anambra South to give him another term so he can keep working for them.
