Ghen Ghen! Man Tries to Murder Traditional Ruler in Rivers and this Happens to Him

A man who had enough effrontery to try to kill the traditional ruler of a Rivers State community, has gotten himself into more trouble than he can contain.

 
Legbara Loveday, a 21- year-old man, has been remanded  in prison custody by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt yesterday.
 
His crime was that he attempted to murder a traditional ruler, HRH Mene Frank Nule Nam, the Mene-Bua-Sogho, in Khana local government area of Rivers State.
 
According to Leadership, the accused, who was arraigned before Chief Magistrate F. N. Amamze on eight-count charge in suit number PMC/1228c/2016, was said to have attempted to murder the monarch on the 8th of April this year after he and others still at large invaded the palace of the monarch with weapons.
 
Loveday and the others still at large are also being accused of armed robbery, for allegedly stealing and damaging properties of the monarch worth two million, seven hundred thousand naira (N2, 700, 000.00).
 
According to the state commissioner of Police, who is prosecuting the matter, the accused was arrested by men of the command after a long search for him.
 
The charge read in part: “That you, Legbara Loveday and others at large on the 8th day of April, 2016 at about 2am in TekaSogho Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did attempt to murder one Royal Highness, Mene Frank Nule Nam (The Mene-Bua-Sogho), the Paramount Ruler of TekaSogho by invading his palace at night, armed with dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically into his house and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 320 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”
 
After the charge was read, Chief Magistrate, F. N. Amanze, said the court lacks jurisdiction to grant bail to the accused person as it is a murder case.
